Echocardiogram

Echocardiogram is a painless non-invasive imaging of the heart that creates pictures and movies of your heart using sound waves. Your heart’s size and movement can be seen in the screen. It also shows whether the chambers and valves of the heart are functioning properly or not.  In addition Echocardiogram can be used to detect areas of the heart muscle that are not contracting well due to poor blood flow or injuries from previous heart attacks or secondary to other causes. 

Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) is a type of echo test that uses sound waves to create pictures of your heart. a TEE creates pictures from inside your body. the cardiologist guides a thin, flexible tube down your esophagus and the stomach. A TEE can diagnose many abnormalities including blood clots inside cardiac chambers, cardiac shunts or abnormal connections between cardiac chambers and infections in your heart.
